Beloved Actor Pat Finn, Famed For Appearances in Seinfeld and The Middle, Dies at Age 60.

American entertainer Pat Finn, who featured in popular television series including Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California recently having undergone treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, as reported by news outlets.

"Pat never met a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives shared in a statement.

They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".

A Prolific TV Career

Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.

He was also seen in a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a party host who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.

During the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of popular shows, such as:

  • "King of Queens"
  • "Friends"
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

He was most recognized for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.

His film credits include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Outside of his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was a member of a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat guided, supported, and advised countless students throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.

In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," he shared publicly.

Pat Finn is remembered by his wife Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
