Ex- Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor stands accused of carrying out assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
The charges come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
List of Charges
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
