Iran Reports Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have shot down missiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a residential area in the capital, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
