Meteorologists are reporting a chilly commencement to the new year, with wintry precipitation anticipated throughout a lot of the UK. Those celebrating are being urged to bundle up as near-freezing temperatures are predicted for New Year's Eve.

Hogmanay Plans Proceed In Spite of Alerts

Edinburgh's iconic Hogmanay events are expected to take place, a contrast to last year's postponement. This comes despite weather alerts for snow over northern Scotland.

The Mercury Set to Plummet Further

Around 10cm of snow could accumulate to have settled in some areas by Friday morning, reaching up to 30cm on the highest roads and hills.
