Soccer Analyst Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Forecasts

Arsenal's 10-game victorious streak came to an end by the Black Cats prior to the global hiatus, but will the English top division leaders recover against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," stated football expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still manage to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of guests.

For week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

The singer's latest record, the new release, is out on Friday.

Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of several Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a charity match the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or son chooses to play instead."

Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their coach.

"I won't push football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their Saturday football side," he added.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously owned a soccer team for a period too.

"My father coached with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He managed our team for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues may have to be patient for their star's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Delap both back fit.

I still think this game will be fairly close, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their only home defeats so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

This smells of a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

Olly's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their previous couple games - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, the Hammers secured two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at home, they do look strong again.

West Ham's sole on the road victory this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno was previously that team's coach.

So, what on earth do I predict here - can the Hammers continuing their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I will choose the Cherries, because I believe what occurred against Aston Villa was a blip.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for the drop before the season started, but they have surprised a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their last four games.

My son advised me to get Brentford striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will likely score again on Saturday but I am still not going to pick him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had much success on the travel this season, and Brighton are consistently decent at home. Brentford will try to attack on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's side pose much more of a threat.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

Olly's prediction: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a lot of scores but it actually proves to be quite close. 1-1

AI's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.

They have have lots of talent in their squad but it still feels like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.

As for Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the top flight campaign so far.

The away side's performance in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not witnessed anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing to do to support the visitors here, because they are obviously able of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the end of October.

However I am not going to choose that. Rather, I really need to carry on going against the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good results because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.

Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the sole side they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be absolutely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three points.

The expert's forecast: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a bad run... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough fixture to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their past 10 games in every tournament, but could they be one of the sides who profit from the {international break|
